COACHING FOR PROFESSIONALS

A message to men
who carry the weight of emptiness in silence.

Burnout coaching for men who are tired of holding it all together

When you look fine on the outside, but experience emptiness inside

Perhaps you recognise some of these words….

“From the outside, your life may look solid.”

“You function. You cope. You deliver.”

“Others see you as capable, dependable and in control.”

Yet your inner self doesn’t believe any of it. Perhaps your true experience is that you feel emotionally flat, exhausted, restless or quietly trapped inside the life you have constructed.

You may struggle to switch off. Sleep properly. Relax without guilt. Persistent underlying tension is a normal everyday experience.

Many men carry this silently for years.

Men are often taught to endure, not to feel

Many men I work with grew up absorbing powerful, often toxic, messages about masculinity, without realising it:

  • “Man up”
  • “Be like your father”
  • “Big boys don’t cry”
  • “Suck it up”
  • “Fight back”
  • “Show them who is boss”
  • “Stop making a fuss”

These messages created a distorted model of masculinity that tells men to provide, endure and never need help, whilst somehow always being fully open, calm, in charge and constantly available. Many young men still feeling pressure to adhere to traditional, rigid norms of being stoic, strong, and the primary provider.

It is not surprising that so many men learn to disconnect from themselves. Over time, that disconnection can show up as:

  • presenting a masculine facade to hide inner insecurity
  • obsession with taking the lead in everything
  • emotional numbness or irritability
  • work becoming the only safe identity (“I am my job”)
  • difficulty asking for help
  • quiet despair carried alone
  • inability to make clear decisions
  • a prevailing numbness and an underlying sense of inadequacy

None of this is a sign of weakness. It is the long term result of conditioning.

I understand this personally

For many years, I lived in exactly this way myself. Outwardly competent and successful. Internally exhausted, disconnected and struggling.

I also understand how difficult it can be for men to acknowledge vulnerability without fearing loss of identity, dignity or respect.

That experience now drives me in what I do.

More about my lived experience of The Empty Suit

A different kind of space

My work with men is not about fixing, diagnosing or forcing emotional disclosure. It is about creating a calm, confidential and trauma-informed space where you no longer need to feel the pressure of performing strength all the time.

The space we create together is a place where:

  • you can move at your own pace
  • the nervous system matters as much as the intellect
  • strength and vulnerability are not treated as opposites

This is not about losing who you are. It is about reclaiming yourself beneath the role you’ve been carrying.

When success stops making sense

There comes a point in many professional lives when achievement no longer means as much as it once did.

You may have done everything that was expected of you:

  • built a respected career
  • carried responsibility reliably
  • become known as capable, steady, and dependable

And yet, you are feeling some kind of emptiness inside.

What once motivated you now drains you. What once felt purposeful now seems hollow. The role continues, but you feel increasingly detached from the person living it. Somehow you have lost your joie de vivre.

This is what I call The Empty Suit Experience.

It is what happens when a professional life continues to function on the outside, but the person inside it feels increasingly disconnected. It is not a failure or a lack of resilience. it is often the result of years of responsibility, expectation and self-suppression.

Burnout is rarely just about workload

Many professionals initially believe they are “simply burnt out”, and put it down to tiredness that will disappear once the current set of challenges are resolved. Often there is something deeper beneath the exhaustion.

Over time, people can become disconnected from their basic needs, emotional reality, sense of identity, capacity for rest and, ultimately, their inner sense of meaning. The impact may look like:

  • chronic stress or anxiety
  • emotional numbness
  • workaholism and perfectionism
  • feeling trapped by the conditioning around duty and responsibility
  • imposter syndrome despite proven competence
  • living in constant “shoulds” and “ought tos”
  • a growing sense that carrying on in this way is no longer sustainable

Eventually, this creates fragmentation. There is a highly competent professional self and yet there is a neglected inner self carrying fear, exhaustion and emptiness

My own experience

I understand this world personally as well as professionally. After decades of perfectionism, emotional suppression and chronic stress, I experienced a burnout that became a profound, and ultimately positive, turning point in my life. Through my own long journey of healing and recovery, I learned to understand the deeper patterns that had shaped my life, and how to unwind them safely. Today, I work with professionals who recognise themselves in that story and are ready to live with greater honesty, vitality and self-respect.

A different kind of coaching space

The coaching experience we co-create is not the same as traditional coaching. It is a calm, structured and trauma-informed space where you no longer need to hold everything together alone.

Together, we work carefully and at a sustainable pace to:

  • understand the patterns driving stress, over-responsibility and emotional exhaustion
  • help the nervous system settle from chronic pressure and vigilance
  • reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been neglected for years
  • develop a new living experience that seems more integrated, grounded, purposeful and sustainable

There is no pressure to perform, explain yourself perfectly or arrive with all the answers.

The work is thoughtful, relational and paced with care.

Why work with me?

Lived understanding, not abstract theory

I bring three things into this work:

  • first-hand experience of senior professional life, chronic stress, burnout and identity collapse
  • extensive training in somatic, therapeutic and coaching approaches and techniques
  • a grounded, steady presence shaped by my own long-term healing journey

I understand the professional world, and I understand what it costs to live disconnected from yourself within it.

You will not be rushed, judged, criticised or compared.

A structured coaching journey

The deep, sustainable, transformative experience I offer cannot occur in isolated sessions. Together we will establish a structured coaching journey that is right for you.

Most clients initially choose to work together over a period of three to six months, allowing space and time for meaningful, sustainable change to unfold gradually.

Programmes are bespoke but typically range from £900 to £2,700 depending on structure and level of support.
